Product Review
Guitarist Grant Green's debut album Grant's First Stand found him at the helm of a smoldering organ trio with Baby Face Willette on Hammond B3 organ and Ben Dixon on drums. A soul jazz classic for the ages, it also signaled the start of a fruitful relationship between Green and Blue Note Records that produced 30 albums over the next 12 years that moved from soul jazz and hard bop into jazz funk and fusion. Green's bluesy guitar sound would also be heard on more than 30 Blue Note albums.
