The Classic Journeyman is Helko's solution to the quest for the ultimate wilderness pack axe. A cross between a hatchet and a conventional axe, the pack axe is designed to be lightweight, compact, and easy to carry while trekking through wilderness. Its unique head weight and handle length allow for comfortable use with one or two hands, and it is equally capable of performing cutting and splitting work. The Journeyman occupies the relatively underserviced niche between hatchet and conventional axe, and is the perfect all-purpose "in between" companion for the avid backpacker, camper, or woodsman. The poll (opposite the blade) may be used for light hammering, such as striking in tent stakes. The head is buffed and polished to a highly reflective finish that reduces cutting friction and improves rust resistance.
