The mystique surrounding this California singer-songwriter is due in part to the brevity of his career (he gave it up to become a studio engineer). The real allure, though, is the music, and here are all four of his 1969-73 LPs (his Top 40 debut Emmitt Rhodes plus Mirror, The American Dream and Farewell to Paradise ) and a non-LP single. The melodies, harmonies and arrangements are all intricate, beautiful and often very McCartney-esque (and Emmitt played everything on the majority of the tracks); includes his hit Fresh As a Daisy plus Long Time No See; Live Till You Die; Birthday Lady; Really Wanted You; Mother Earth; Shoot the Moon , and more deservedly worshipped songs!
